Opel have revealed that its iconic GSi badge returns to its Insignia model. Yes, that means South Africa won't get it.
It's a bitter pill to swallow, but the iconic GSi badge, which Opel teased us with recently on Instagram and made us all GSi-nostalgic, will not make its way to South Africa and will be reserved instead for the Vauxhall-named Insignia - a model that is not available in South Africa. That, of course, is a tragedy.
We suppose then that it's pointless to report that it will house a 2,0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine capable of 191 kW and 400 N.m. Because what would be the point of that? What's nice about knowing things about things you cannot have? Nothing. Nothing at all.
But, then again, Gusheshe always reports on a whole variety of over-priced and exotic machines that we will never own anyway and still it doesn't stop us. So, unselfishly then, we welcome you Insignia GSi and will report on you regardless, even if your African rejection is hard to swallow.
As an aside: What of an Opel Astra GSi though? Is that a possibility? Opel haven't said no...
