A production version of the Hyundai Santa Cruz concept has been confirmed. We're licking our lips.
As is reported in Car Magazine, Hyundai have confirmed a production version of the Santa Cruz concept that was released in 2015. But, before you nod your head in excitement and appreciation, there is no talk yet of it being released here and for the moment, seems destined for North America. That however, is the least of our problems because it probably won't look anything like the awesome Santa Cruz concept anyway, which means we won't want it.
But, in the event it is remotely similar - and in the event it comes to South Africa, which is possible, it is likely to be released as a "lifestyle-focused, soft roader" and not the tough Ranger-like competitor that we would want. It will be like the Tucson then, merely good looking, but beneath the skin you will find an overpriced, raised sedan with a bakkie bucket, and nothing else. Still though, it will probably ooze loads of value.
All that aside, it looks absolutely brilliant. So, remember then to add it to the end of your prayer this evening and if it comes, expect it beyond 2020.
