Nissan are looking to rival the upcoming Ranger Raptor with a beefed up version of the Navara. South Africa, you lucky son-of-a-guns!
The Nissan Navara, South Africa’s fourth favourite double cab, will look to tackle the likes of the new Ranger Raptor with a pumped up version of its own Navara – a Navara that could look similar to the EnGuard concept seen here, but differently named.
Yes, as is reported in Car Magazine SA, Nissan have officially filed for a name called the ‘Off-Roader’ and it could, according to the head of Renault-Nissan light commercial vehicle unit, arrive with a 3-litre turbodiesel and trump the faint-hearted Raptor on every front.
It’s the last thing the new Ranger Raptor needs. The top-of-the-range Amarok is already outpowering it and another aggressive rival could really shake it.
But, it shouldn’t worry too much, should the Ford. We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: In our superficial world, this Ranger will still be lapped-up for its brilliant puffed-out curves, regardless of what lies underneath.
And, underneath, as it turns out, is actually not that that bad and the 2-litre will still be enough for every boet who buys it from Blouberg to Bryanston
No doubt, we love this new beefed-up Nissan and it's got us wondering who will be next. Toyota? Isuzu? Come on boys.
